Pengertian Congratulation:

Congratulation atau ucapan selamat adalah ucapan atau ungkapan yang diberikan kepada orang yang sedang mendapatkan atau mengalami sesuatu (mendapat kebahagiaan). Dalan hal ini tidak terbatas pada mendapatkan jabatan, barang baru saja, tetapi juga termasuk saat seseorang sedang merayakan sesuatu. Ex: sedang merayakan hari besar.

Tujuan pembelajaran conversation.

DONGENG TIMUN EMAS (THE GOLDEN CUCUMBER)

A long time ago, a farmer and his wife lived in a jungle. Everyday they went to the sacred tree where they prayed begging for a child. When they were praying, a giant passed and heard their prayed. The giant gave them a cucumber seed. He said to the farmer, “You will have a baby girl, but you have to promise me to give the child to me when she is seventeen years old. They agreed, because they wanted a baby very much. The giant gave them the seed, then they went home.



Next day, they planted the seed in the yard. They watered it everyday. They made fences around it to keep it from animal’s disturbances. Day by day the vine got bigger and bigger. A flower bloomed and finally it became a small gold cucumber. The cucumber grew rapidly, then became a big cucumber. The farmer picked it when it was ripe and brought it home. When they arrived, they laid it on the floor. Slowly the farmer cut it. Wow! They were surprised. The farmer said to his wife, “Look! My wife, there is a baby in it. His wife replied, “Yeah! How cute the baby is” They were very happy and they named her Timun Emas, means the golden cucumber.



Timun Emas blossomed into a real beauty with black hair, slim body and bright eyes. When she was seventeen years old, the giant came and said to the farmer, “I am coming to take your daughter”. The farmer tried to calm the giant by saying, “Ooo … do not worry. She is playing in the garden now. Let my wife get her”

Meanwhile his wife found Timun Emas and gave her four things in a cloth bag and said to her, “My daughter, the giant has come to take you. Bring this bag with you for fighting him”
“What can I do, mother?” asked Timun Emas
“Run as fast as you can, “ said the farmer’s wife. “Throw one of three things whenever the giant comes close”
Then Timun Emas ran as fast as she could.

Meanwhile the giant was impatient. He broke the hut and looked for Timun Emas. From the garden he saw Timun Emas running towards the jungle. Then he ran after her. When he almost caught her, she took out the first thing from the bag, a handle of salt, and threw it towards the giant. Suddenly the ground between Timun Emas and the giant turned into a wide sea. The giant tried to catch Timun Emas by swimming. It was very hard of course. It was a good chance for Timun Emas to run further. But in a short time the giant almost caught Timun Emas again. Timun Emas threw a handful of chilies. In a flash, there grew a thorny dense bush around the giant. The giant screamed with a pain, but again, the giant got free and was almost able to catch Timun Emas.

She took out the third thing from the bag, a handful of cucumber seeds. Suddenly, the ground turned into very wide field of cucumber vines. The giant felt thirsty and hungry, and then he ate lots of fresh cucumbers. The giant ate, ate and ate again and finally he feel asleep. When she saw this, Tminu Emas ran as far as she could but the giant woke up and ran after her quickly. Knowing the giant was coming closer and closer, Timun Emas threw out the last thing, a handful of shrimp paste. The ground where the giant running suddenly turned into a sea of mud. He was trapped there. He screamed and sank into the sea of mud. Timun Emas quickly went home. The farmer and his wife were very happy.

“Mother, Father, I am still life” shouted Timun Emas.
“Oh, my dear” said the farmer and his wife while embracing her.
“Thank God, our daughter is safe”, said the farmer and his wife again. They were very happy. No more fear. They did not want to lose their daughter anymore. The giant was died.

DONGENG BAHASA INGGRIS ''The Crying Stone''

The Crying Stone

In a small village, a girl lives with her mother. The girl is very beautiful. Everyday she puts make-up and wears her best clothes. She doesn’t like to help her mother work in a field. The girl is very lazy.

One day, the mother asks the girl to accompany her to go to the market to buy some food. At first the girl refuses, but the mother persuades her by saying they are going to buy new clothes. The girl finally agrees. But she asks her mother to walk behind her. She doesn’t want to walk side by side with her mother. Although her mother is very sad, she agrees to walk behind her daughter.

On the way to the market, everybody admires the girl’s beauty. They are also curious. Behind the beautiful girl, there is an old woman with a simple dress. The girl and her mother look very different!

“Hello, pretty lady. Who is the woman behind you?” asks them.

“She is my servant,” answers the girl.

The mother is very sad, but she doesn’t say anything.

The girl and the mother meet other people. Again they ask who the woman behind the beautiful girl. Again the girl answers that her mother is her servant. She always says that her mother is her servant every time they meet people.

At last, the mother cannot hold the pain anymore. She prays to God to punish her daughter. God answers her prayer. Slowly, the girl’s leg turns into stone. The process continues to the upper part of the girl’s body. The girl is very panicky.

“Mother, please forgive me!” she cries and ask her mother to forgive her.

But it’s too late. Her whole body finally becomes a big stone. Until now people still can see tears falling down the stone. People then call it the crying stone or batu menangis.

Batu Menangis

Di sebuah desa kecil, seorang gadis tinggal dengan ibunya. Gadis itu sangat indah. Setiap hari ia menempatkan make-up dan mengenakan pakaiannya yang terbaik. Dia tidak ingin membantu ibunya bekerja di lapangan. Gadis itu sangat malas.
Suatu hari, ibu meminta gadis itu untuk menemaninya pergi ke pasar untuk membeli makanan. Awalnya gadis itu menolak, namun sang ibu membujuk dengan mengatakan mereka akan membeli pakaian baru. Gadis itu akhirnya setuju. Tapi dia meminta ibunya untuk berjalan di belakangnya. Dia tidak ingin berjalan berdampingan dengan ibunya. Meskipun ibunya sangat sedih, ia setuju untuk berjalan di belakang putrinya.
Dalam perjalanan ke pasar, semua orang mengagumi kecantikan gadis itu. Mereka juga penasaran. Di balik gadis cantik, ada seorang wanita tua dengan gaun sederhana. Gadis dan ibunya terlihat sangat berbeda!
“Halo, cantik wanita. Siapa wanita di belakang Anda?” meminta mereka.
“Dia adalah hamba-Ku,” jawab gadis itu.
Ibu ini sangat sedih, tetapi dia tidak mengatakan apa-apa.
Gadis itu dan ibu bertemu dengan orang lain. Sekali lagi mereka meminta siapa wanita di belakang gadis cantik. Sekali lagi gadis itu menjawab bahwa ibunya adalah pelayannya. Dia selalu mengatakan bahwa ibunya adalah hamba setiap kali mereka bertemu orang.
Akhirnya, ibu tidak bisa menahan rasa sakit lagi. Dia berdoa kepada Tuhan untuk menghukum putrinya. Tuhan menjawab doanya. Perlahan-lahan, kaki gadis itu berubah menjadi batu. Proses berlanjut ke bagian atas tubuh gadis itu. Gadis itu sangat panik.
“Ibu, maafkan aku!” dia menangis dan meminta ibunya untuk memaafkannya.
Tapi itu sudah terlambat. Seluruh tubuhnya akhirnya menjadi batu besar. Sampai sekarang orang masih bisa melihat air mata jatuh batu. Orang-orang kemudian menyebutnya batu menangis atau batu Menangis.

I wake up at 7am every morning.  I press the snooze button five times every morning before I turn off the alarm and get up. I have a cup of coffee and make breakfast. I usually read the newspaper while I have breakfast. My children like to have a shower after they have breakfast but I like to have a shower before I get dressed.  My wife brushes her long hair, and I have short hair so I comb my hair.

It is important to brush your teeth, and some women like to put make-up on.   After I have finished work, I go home to cook dinner. In my house I usually make dinner. The family eat dinner together at 7:30pm.

After dinner I make sure that my children do their homework, and then I watch television.  On television I usually watch the News. My wife usually comes to tell me to take the rubbish out, or wash the dishes.  Our children feed the dog and the cat before they go to bed and I tell them to go to the bathroom too. If I am sick I have to take my medication, but then I get into my pyjamas and set the alarm so I wake up in the morning. The last things I do is lock the door, turn off the lights, and go to bed.

What are some daily activities that you do at work?

I go to work at 8.45am every morning. I usually drive to work. I always check my emails when I get to work, but I don't always reply to them immediately.  I take a taxi or a train if I have a lunch meeting. I never take the bus because it is too slow. When I am at my desk I usually work on the computer, even during morning tea. At 1pm most days I have lunch. At 3pm we have afternoon tea, and that is when we usually talk and eat cake.

When you are in the office you probably have a lot of papers. It is important for you to file your papers, and so that you can find them again you need to organise your files. When I work I have to make telephone calls. If an important issue happens I ask my secretary to organise a meeting. Once a month I report to my boss, but maybe you have to report to your boss more often. I usually write a document that my boss can read.

On Sunday morning we go to church, and if there is lots of noise coming from next door, sometimes we fight with the neighbour.

On Saturday night my parents stay at home and I go out with friends.

Even my friends that live at home call their parents each week.

Every evening, I water the garden.

I usually pay someone to wash the car, but my partner says I should do it, so sometimes I argue with my partner about that.

If we are angry at the neighbour, we seek vengeance by annoying his dogs.

To get our shopping, we go to the mall in the car.

Last week I forgot to recharge my travel card, and I had to argue with a bus driver. I couldn't call the office because I forgot to recharge my cellphone!
